Wine and Wit at Seahorse Winery
Tucked away in the Judean Hills, Seahorse Winery is a hidden gem for wine lovers. Founded by Ze’ev Dunie, a former filmmaker turned winemaker, this boutique winery is all about character—both in its wines and in the man behind them. Dunie left the world of cinema after falling in love with winemaking in the 90s, and today, he produces bold, unconventional wines from grape varieties not commonly found in Israel, like Chenin Blanc, Grenache, and Mourvèdre.
His approach is as unique as his background—organic farming, dense vine planting, and a hands-on attitude that makes every bottle feel personal. Many of his wines are even named after influential artists and thinkers, reflecting his love for storytelling.
At a recent tasting event at his winery, Dunie held court, glass in hand, sharing stories and pouring wines that are as full of personality as he is.
